SmartDx was established in 2022 by two animal-loving STEM professionals who knew the heartbreak of losing a dog to disease. Brent Keller, with a background in biotechnology and viral immunology, knew he could find a way to help other pet parents avoid the grief of saying goodbye too early. He paired with Grant Haskins, whose scientific work in medical image/data analysis and machine learning gave the team the ability to leverage AI’s capacity to assess genetic sequences quickly and predict risk accurately.
